Track day prep checklist for the 2026 season

Tires, brakes, fluids and electronic control — the essential list for staying safe on track.

A track day is one of the most enjoyable ways to test your car and your driving in a safe environment. But the fun lasts only as long as the preparation you did before heading out. Here are the essentials to review before the season starts.

Mechanical checks

Check brake pad and disc thickness, the high-temperature resistance of your brake fluid and whether there are any leaks. Tyre tread depth and pressure, engine oil level and condition, coolant and hose connections should top the list. Don’t forget the torque on your wheel bolts.

Electronics and software

Track conditions mean the engine stays at high rpm and load far longer than on the street. Make sure your ECU map suits that load and that temperature and knock safeties are set correctly. If you can log data, monitor temperatures from the very first laps.

If you’re not sure about your prep, the safest move is a check pass on the dyno before the track day. At ATS Mapping we review mapping, cooling and safety parameters together for track-focused builds.
